June 25: Canadian Author Tim McGregor’s novella Lure nominated for a coveted Shirley Jackson Award.

Lure is a horror tale that chums the waters when the appearance of a mermaid completely disrupts a remote and rigid fishing village.

Tim was thrilled about the nomination. “As a lifelong fan of Shirley Jackson’s work, it’s hard to relate how special this nomination is. Like most, my first introduction to Jackson was her iconic short story, “The Lottery” so it’s especially fitting since this is the 75th anniversary of that story’s appearance in the New Yorker. What was also cool was that my publisher, Tenebrous Press, told me about the nomination in person at this year’s HWA StokerCon.”

“Immersive and utterly compelling, Tim McGregor’s Lure will stab you in the heart with a hook and plunge you deep into the blackest depths where sunlight cannot follow. A monstrously inventive seaside fable of tradition, adolescence, and loss.”
– Eric LaRocca, author of Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke

The author of twenty books is on a roll, with his latest release Wasps in the Ice Cream cited as a best horror book of 2023 by Esquire Magazine.

McGregor lives in Toronto with his wife, two kids, and one spiteful ghost. He can be reached at timmcgregorauthor.com. @https://twitter.com/TimMcGregor1

The awards will be announced July 15th 2023, in Quincy, Massachusetts
