Very happy that Eynhallow was nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award. I am over the moon with the token rock they send to nominees. Can’t wait to stone someone with it.

Had a blast doing a panel at FanExpo (Toronto’s ComicCon) alongside some pretty awesome HWA folks. Left to right: Jessica Peter, Sephera Giron, C.C Adams, Ai Jiang, and some reprobate. Thanks to David Thirteen for organizing and to Marco Wong for the photographs.

How’s this for cool news? The Tea & Terror Book Club has chosen Wasps in the Ice Cream for their next read! The after-school book club is run by counselor extraordinaire Christine Harrold, who thought Wasps might appeal to her group. What a thrill! I’ll even to get the group in a chat next month. Can’t wait. Many thanks to Christine for organizing the book club.

Lure is a horror tale that chums the waters when the appearance of a mermaid completely disrupts a remote and rigid fishing village.
Tim was thrilled about the nomination. “As a lifelong fan of Shirley Jackson’s work, it’s hard to relate how special this nomination is. Like most, my first introduction to Jackson was her iconic short story, “The Lottery” so it’s especially fitting since this is the 75th anniversary of that story’s appearance in the New Yorker. What was also cool was that my publisher, Tenebrous Press, told me about the nomination in person at this year’s HWA StokerCon.”
“Immersive and utterly compelling, Tim McGregor’s Lure will stab you in the heart with a hook and plunge you deep into the blackest depths where sunlight cannot follow. A monstrously inventive seaside fable of tradition, adolescence, and loss.”
– Eric LaRocca, author of Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke

Summer 1987: Mark Prewitt’s only priority is to avoid his dad’s new wife and waste time with his friends, but idle nights are the devil’s playground. When his friends decide to pull a cruel prank on the reclusive and strange Farrow sisters, Mark regrets caving in to peer pressure.
Wanting to make amends, Mark is drawn into the mysterious world of the Farrow girls, finding a kindred spirit in the middle sister, George. She is unlike anyone he’s ever known; a practicing witch who uses folk magic to protect her family. They bond over books, loneliness, and homemade spells. She even invites Mark to join a séance to contact her dead sister, who died under mysterious circumstances.
Keeping their relationship secret, Mark learns that living a double life in a town this small is impossible. When the secret is exposed, and his friends plot to punish the witch sisters for stealing one of their own, Mark is forced to choose between these two worlds.
“McGregor sets a poignant, boy-meets-girl story and the innocence of childhood against the dark and dangerous secrets of adulthood; utterly magical and absorbing. I never wanted it to end.” -Sadie Hartmann, AKA Mother Horror
Wasps in the Ice Cream is not available at this time. If anyone pre-ordered it, you should be getting a refund. With any luck, I’ll find a new home for it soon.
